Itinerary
Why Visit Lake Mountain?
You can build a snowman in Australia, just two hours away from Melbourne. In addition to playing in the snow, you can also hike up to the summit of Lake Mountain and rent toboggans. Experience the beauty of this Alpine resort with direct transfer and entry included. Let your inner child out and have some fun!
Lake Mountain
The tranquil Alpine resort, named after Surveyor-General George Lake, does not have a lake to visit but instead offers a mountain. Visitors can easily reach the resort by driving 120 km northeast of Melbourne without the need for transfer buses or lift passes.
The resort is surrounded by extensive cross-country ski tracks and toboggan fields and is equipped with modern facilities. Guests will have plenty of time to enjoy the charming chalets that offer picturesque views of the mountains. The facilities at the resort include a restaurant, day shelter, cafe, ski equipment, retail shop, snow sports centre, ski school, and more.
The activity is called "Three hours of Snow Play"
Various activities are available for all ages, including tobogganing, cross-country skiing, snow-shoe walks, and snowball fights. Visitors have three hours to enjoy these activities as they please.
Another option is to hike up to the summit of Lake Mountain for beautiful snowy views.
Steavenson Falls
In the afternoon, you can take a 700-meter walk to Steavenson Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Victoria, which is quite impressive.
The waterfall in Marysville, named after John Steavenson, an Assistant Commissioner of Roads and Bridges, drops 84 meters into the Steavenson River Valley. It is now the centrepiece of the 190-hectare Steavenson Falls Scenic Reserve.
Steavenson Falls has become a popular tourist destination in Marysville since the 1860s due to its distinct allure and stunning natural beauty. It features 5 cascades and a total descent of 122 meters, leaving visitors in awe of this remarkable natural wonder.
Chocolatiers and Ice-creamery
During our return journey to Melbourne, we pass through the Yarra Valley in order to visit a highly regarded chocolate factory.
Visit Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery to experience their wide range of handcrafted chocolate products and sweet treats. Additionally, you have the opportunity to sample these delicious treats for free and purchase some goodies to take home.
Visitors can enjoy the scenic landscapes of the Yarra Valley, including vineyards, hills, and mountains while exploring the lawns. The valley is renowned for its wine production.
